Dr. David Carter

 

Born in Zachary, LA, Dr. David M. Carter is an expert dentist.

He's a Louisiana native who has lived in Jackson, LA, Clinton, LA, Scotlandville, LA, Centerville, MS, Jackson, MS, and currently Zachary, LA.

Education & Experience

Dr. Carter graduated from Alcorn State University (ASU) in 2008 with Cum Laude honors while earning a Bachelor of Science. Following his undergraduate studies, Dr. Carter went on to earn his Master’s in Biological Sciences in 2010 with Highest Distinction at ASU.

In 2010, Dr. Carter was accepted into the Class of 2014 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Dentistry.

Following dental school, Dr. Carter completed a General Practice Residency Program at Louisiana State University Health Science Center in Baton Rouge, LA completing training in Moderate Sedation.

Involvement

During his educational journey, Dr. Carter was a member of multiple dental organizations, including the Student National Dental Association (SNDA).

Dr. Carter remained an active member in his local SNDA chapter serving as Vice President in 2011-2012, holding national positions on the Executive Board as Representative to the NDA HOD, President-Elect, and National President from 2012 to 2014.

Dr. Carter joined the Mississippi Army National Guard in 2013 during his junior year of school and currently holds the rank of Captain.

National Service

During his matriculation thru undergraduate and graduate school, Dr. Carter participated in research at the University of Illinois at Chicago and the US Army Corps of Engineers. While in Chicago, he worked in the Physiology and Biophysics lab participating in heart research during the summers of 2006 and 2007.

Dr. Carter worked full-time at the Engineer Research and Development Center, Environmental Laboratory, which was the Army’s top research center in the nation, from 2007 to 2010. While there, he completed his thesis in the master’s program and worked as a graduate assistant instructing various biology laboratory classes.

Awards & Recognition

Dr. Carter received awards from the National Dental Associate Foundation/Colgate Palmolive, Mississippi, and the Student Implant Award from the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.

Last year, Dr. Carter received his Fellowship in Dental Implants for the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.

Outside of the Office

Currently, Dr. Carter is married to Dr. Adriane White-Carter, and they have two daughters Mya 9, and Alexandria, 15 months.

They are the owners of Smile Studio: Family Dentistry and Orthodontics and have been practicing together for three years.
